The all-European challenge of day four at the XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship between Italy and the Czech Republic was decided early. The Azzurri scored once in the first inning with Gasparini out of a hit by Mercuri (3-for-4, four RBI in the game), followed by a real big eigh-run second inning that led to an early ending in the seventh with a score of 12-1.

The Czech squad again played a respectable game – like they did in their opener against Chinese Taipei – but in the end had to settle for their second loss.

In the evening game at Mokdong Stadium they scored 16 of the 17 runs in the last four innings to blow the score wide open, highlighted by a big nine-run rally in the seventh. It was the first game, which ended early after seven innings due to ten-run mercy rule.
