Princ Zagreb Crowned Champions at Central Europe Women’s Softball Euroleague 2024

Princ Zagreb won the Central Europe Women’s Softball Euroleague 2024, securing the championship title at home in Zagreb. The Croatian team triumphed over the Trnava Panthers from Slovakia. Medvednica, also representing Croatia, completed the podium by taking the bronze.

The gold medal game between Princ Zagreb and the Trnava Panthers was a tightly contested match, with Princ Zagreb coming out on top with a 3-1 victory. Princ Zagreb struck early, scoring one run in the first inning and maintaining their lead with a two-run third inning. The Trnava Panthers fought back, managing to score one run in the seventh inning, but it was not enough to overcome the home team.

Due to the weather, the games scheduled for Saturday were cancelled, but they would not have impacted the final standings and were intended as an opportunity for the teams to play the last round of the competition. Fortunately, Sunday's weather allowed the remaining games to proceed as planned.

Before the final game on Sunday, Medvednica (CRO) and Trnava Panthers (SVK) faced off to determine who would advance to the gold medal game, with the loser earning the bronze medal. The Panthers claimed a decisive 12-3 victory, securing their spot in the final.

Jánossomorja Rascals (HUN) and Apollo Bratislava (SVK) played a doubleheader on Sunday to determine the final standings. Apollo Bratislava won the first game 10-3, while Jánossomorja Rascals came back to win the second game in a high-scoring contest, 20-18.

Central Europe Women’s Softball Euroleague gold medalists Princ Zagreb went undefeated in the whole tournament with a perfect record of eight wins and no losses. Silver medalists Trnava Panthers followed closely with six wins and two losses. Medvednica also delivered a solid performance with six victories, securing their place in the top three.

Tihana Županić from Princ Zagreb was named both the Best Pitcher and the MVP of the Central Europe Women’s Softball Euroleague 2024, finishing with a 1.17 ERA over 24.0 innings pitched. Her teammate, Lara Ključarić, was awarded Best Hitter, boasting a .529 batting average throughout the competition.

The Central Europe Women’s Softball Euroleague continues to be a key event for regional teams, providing an international platform for growth and competition in the sport.
