Day 1 Recap: Baseball European Cup 2024 in Valencia, Spain

The Baseball European Cup 2024 commenced on June 4 at the Astros Valencia ballpark in Valencia, Spain. This second-tier tournament below the Baseball European Champions Cup features eight teams divided into two groups.

During the first game of the Baseball European Cup, Les Cougars Montigny (FRA) defeated the Diving Ducks (AUT) with a final score of 4-0. Les Cougars tallied eight hits and committed one error, while the Diving Ducks managed five hits and two errors.

In the following game, Montpellier Barracudas (FRA) dominated Vienna Metrostars (AUT) with a 14-4 victory. The Barracudas recorded 13 hits and zero errors, while the Metrostars had five hits and one error.

Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz (ESP) shut out Olimpija Karlovac (CRO) with an impressive 11-0 win in the last game of the day. The Marlins amassed 14 hits without any errors, whereas Olimpija Karlovac had three hits and two errors.

In Group A, the Montpellier Barracudas (FRA) lead with a 1-0 record. Astros Valencia (ESP) and Deurne Spartans (BEL) have yet to play, both standing at 0-0. Vienna Metrostars (AUT) are currently at the bottom with a 0-1 record.

In Group B, Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz (ESP) and Les Cougars Montigny (FRA) are tied for the top spot, each with a 1-0 record. Olimpija Karlovac (CRO) and Diving Ducks (AUT) are both at 0-1, placing them at the bottom of the group standings.

Tomorrow’s schedule features three games. At 9:30, Deurne Spartans (BEL) will face Montpellier Barracudas (FRA). At 13:00, Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz (ESP) will take on Diving Ducks (AUT). The day will conclude with a game between Vienna Metrostars (AUT) and Astros Valencia (ESP) at 17:00.
