Andrej Mrevlje Throws First Pitch at Baseball European Federation Cup Qualifier

Andrej Mrevlje, the longest-serving active baseball player in Slovenia, had the honor of throwing the first pitch at the opening game of the Baseball European Federation Cup Qualifier (Group Slovenia).

Mrevlje‘s baseball journey began in 1975 when he joined the Golovec team in Ljubljana as a catcher. Over the decades, he has remained a central figure in Slovenian baseball, transitioning to a coaching role around 2002 while still maintaining his active player status.

With a career spanning nearly 50 years, Mrevlje‘s dedication to the sport is unmatched.

This week, one of the Baseball European Federation Cup Qualifiers is taking place in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Five teams are competing for a spot in next year’s Baseball European Federation Cup. The teams—Akademics Sofia (BUL), Eagles Cluj (ROM), Kranjski Lisjaki (SLO), Valerenga Baseball (NOR), and Angels Trnava (SVK)— are currently playing a preliminary round-robin until Friday. The top two teams are advancing to the final on Saturday.
