Hungary wins Baseball European Championship Qualifier in Belgrade, Serbia in undefeated fashion

Hungary is securing its spots in the next Baseball European Championship by dominating the Baseball European Championship Qualifier in Belgrade, Serbia. They defeated host Serbia 11-1 in a one-sided final to cap an undefeated week of baseball in the Serbian capital.

Hungary, which got relegated from the 2023 Baseball European Championship, needed just eight innings to cruise to the win in the final. They took a quick 2-0 lead in the second, added three in the fourth and two in the sixth. After Serbia avoided the shutout in the seventh, Hungary added four more in the eighth to seal the win.

Sean Fekete hit a home run and drove in three runs for Hungary. James Dutton also collected three RBI. Eight different players scored for Hungary in the game. Robert Ogg conceded five hits, one run and two base on balls in six-plus innings for the win. He struck out nine. Bojan Ninic scored the lone run for Serbia. Sava Dupor got charged with the loss.

Hungary already had dominated the preliminary round with four wins in four games. Serbia finished with the same 2-2 record as Slovenia in the first round but won the decisive tiebreaker. Slovakia and Türkiye rounded out the standings in fourth and fifth place.
