Great Britain captures first place at the U-15 Baseball European Qualifier 2024 in Kaunas, Lithuania

Great Britain prevailed 19-6 over Ukraine in the final of the U-15 Baseball European Qualifier 2024, which was played in Kaunas, Lithuania this past week. In the final the British cadets scored 13 runs in the top of the fifth inning to secure the victory. By sealing first place at the Qualifier Great Britain earned a ticket to the U-15 Baseball European Championship in 2025.

After Ukraine scored first in the opening frame, Great Britain combined for six runs in the second and third to take a 6-2 lead. After Ukraine cut the deficit to 4-6 after four innings, Great Britain blew up the score with 13 runs in the fifth inning, eventually winning 19-6. Ollie Galvin led the way, going 4-for-5 with four runs and three RBI. Evan Ust collected four RBI. Yevhenii Rozhko scored two runs for Ukraine.

Ukraine and Great Britain finished first and second after the first-round round robin phase. Ukraine beat GB during the preliminary round, while losing to Poland. Eventually both teams reached the final. The U-15 national teams from Israel, Lithuania, Poland and Finland came in at third, fourth, fifth and sixth in the final standings.
