Hørsholm Hurricanes Clinch Fifth Men’s Softball European Super Cup Title

The sixth day of the Men’s Softball European Super Cup began with a thrilling match where the Hurricanes narrowly lost to Hippos Havlickuv Brod (CZE) 4-3. The game was marked by a late surge in the fifth inning, where Hippos scored three crucial runs to overturn a 3-1 deficit, ultimately securing the victory and a spot in the gold medal game.

In the first do-or-die game of the day, Žraloci Ledenice (CZE) dominated the game against Pistones ALZ (MEX), scoring four runs in the first inning thanks to a grand slam home run by Martin TUREK, adding another run in the second with Marek VOLF's solo shot, and breaking the game open with five runs in the fourth inning. Pistones ALZ managed to score two runs in the fourth inning, but it wasn’t enough to catch up, leading to a final score of 10-2 in favor of Žraloci Ledenice.

Žraloci Ledenice eliminated the Mexican team in the run to the medal and had to face the Hørsholm Hurricanes for a ticket to the gold medal game against the Hippos.

The Hørsholm Hurricanes (DEN) secured a 3-1 victory over Žraloci Ledenice (CZE). Žraloci Ledenice took an early lead, scoring their only run in the first inning. However, the Hurricanes quickly responded with three runs in their half of the first inning, which proved to be enough as neither team managed to score in the remaining innings, allowing the Hurricanes to hold onto their lead and win the game to access the final and give the bronze medal game to the Czech.

In the decisive final game, the Hurricanes overpowered the Hippos Havlickuv Brod (CZE) with a 4-0 victory to take home the championship for the fifth time in history.

The Hurricanes took the lead with two runs in the second inning with a two-run home run by William SHAUFUSS and extended their lead with two more runs scored on a wild pitch and a passed ball in the fifth inning. Hippos Havlickuv Brod were unable to score throughout the game, resulting in a shutout victory for the Hurricanes.

The tournament showcased exceptional performances from its pitchers, with the finalist's pitchers Sivira Maiker Pimentel of Hippos Havlickuv Brod finishing with an impressive 0.61 ERA over 46 innings, and Marco Diaz of the Hurricanes close behind with a 0.71 ERA over 49.1 innings.

The tournament also saw an impressive display of power, with 156 home runs hit by all participating teams over the six days of competition.
