Great Britain Clinches 13th Title at the Coed Slowpitch European Championship

The final day of the Coed Slowpitch European Championship 2024 in Pardubice, Czechia, was marked by six games, including the Bronze and Medal Games. Great Britain won gold, Czechia silver and Germany bronze.

Demonstrating their dominance in slowpitch, Great Britain concluded the Coed Slowpitch European Championship 2024 undefeated, winning every game they played.

In the gold medal game, Great Britain faced off against Czechia. Great Britain secured a win over Czechia.

In a high-scoring and fiercely contested gold medal game, Great Britain triumphed over Czechia with a final score of 23-18. The game saw both teams putting up impressive offensive numbers, with Great Britain pulling ahead decisively in the later innings. Despite a strong start from Czechia, Great Britain's consistent scoring, including a pivotal nine-run seventh inning, secured their victory.

Czechia's second baseman and pitcher, Jakub Procházka, had an outstanding performance with five at-bats, scoring four runs, hitting five times, and batting in four runs. For Great Britain, right fielder Mike MacDowell also shone brightly, with five at-bats, three runs scored, four hits, and an impressive seven RBIs.

This victory not only ensured Great Britain's undefeated streak in the tournament but also marked their 13th title in the category and their third consecutive championship win. Great Britain has won all but one edition of the championship taken by Germany.

In the bronze medal game, Germany secured an 18-10 victory over Ireland. The game saw a strong start from Germany, scoring five runs in the first inning. Ireland responded with seven runs in the same inning, taking an early lead. However, Germany's consistent offense, including a four-run fifth inning and a seven-run seventh inning, proved too much for Ireland to overcome. This win awarded Germany the bronze medal.

In the contest for the fifth spot, Belgium went head-to-head with the Netherlands. The Netherlands proved to be the stronger team, defeating Belgium, 14-11, and securing fifth place in the standings. Belgium had to settle for the sixth position.

The final round to determine the standings from seventh to ninth place involved Austria, Serbia, and Norway. Austria triumphed over Serbia and Norway, claiming the seventh spot. Norway won against Serbia to claim the eighth spot, Serbia ranked ninth.
